I have a copy marriage Certificate for Henry James Smith, which indicates that he was born around 1820/21 in Westminster, London. Unfortunately, as there are no details of his father on this certificate I have been unable to confidently find any parentage for him.
The research I have carried out however, showed that Henry appeared to be a cheesemonger when he was younger, eventually turning his hand and becoming a bootmaker.
Henry married Harriet Page on 8 April 1844 at Islington Parish Church, and from the records I have obtained they had 6 children:
William Smith, born c.1849,
Henry Frederick Smith, born c. 1853,
Richard Smith, born c. 1856,
Edgar Smith, born 10 February 1860,
Amy Smith, born c. 1863
Louis Smith born c. 1868
